Discover the Kupa River, one of Croatia’s most scenic fly fishing destinations and a hidden gem for anglers seeking an authentic outdoor experience. Also known as the Kolpa River, the Kupa forms a natural border between north-west Croatia and south-east Slovenia before continuing through Croatia toward the Sava River.
Stretching for 297 kilometres, with around 118 kilometres forming the Croatian-Slovenian border, the Kupa offers a diverse fishing experience surrounded by pristine nature. Its clear waters are home to native grayling and brown trout, while the river is also known for its exceptional Hucho, or Danube salmon, fishing during the autumn season.
Fly fishing for grayling and brown trout is available from 1 April to 30 September.
