River Gacka is an extremely slow, quiet chalk stream in Lika — one of Croatia’s most famous salmonid waters. Year-round temperatures sit around 9.4°C, so the fishery stays stable when other rivers swing hard.
Brown trout here grow 5–7× faster than on many comparable streams, with specimens reported to 8 kg. Rainbows share the beat. Presentation and patience matter more than distance casting.
